Duduza (comfort) dolls, teddy bears, and small balls are being knitted and crocheted. These dolls are for orphans on the streets of Djibouti, Africa.

Each day Caritas International Mission welcomes children. They are safe at the mission and receive schooling, medical attention, a place to wash themselves, a meal, and a courtyard to safely play for that day. Limited resources necessitate the mission to return the children back to the streets after just a few hours. The Duduza dolls, bears and balls are a small gift as they leave the mission.

Please see Aloha Burnard or Kathy Paddock for direction sheets if you would like to help with this project.

Join us for a Spiritual Journey to the land where Jesus lived. Feb. 23 – March 6, 2014.

Our plan is to depart from the USA on Sunday, Feb. 23, arriving in Jersusalem on Monday, Feb. 24. We’ll spend the next week and a half exploring sites important to the life of Jesus (see itinerary), intentionally seeking both to deepen our own experience of God as well to better understand Jesus and the faith he taught. Our plan is to return home on Thursday, March 6.

We’ll limit the size of our band of pilgrims to a small enough number (20-35) to optimize our spiritual experience, to foster the deepening of existing friendships, and to make it easy to add some new friends along the way. Because the group size is limited, get your reservation in as soon as possible. We will cut off registration as soon as the group reaches its maximum size or on Friday, Nov. 1 — whichever comes first.

DETAILS and INFORMATION:

Itinerary

Have a question? Contact us

COMMON QUESTIONS:

Is there a lot of walking?
Yes. As the old song goes, “I walked today where Jesus walked…” Every day will include walking through various sites, sometimes over uneven terrain. We try to keep a gentle pace, with plenty of stops and opportunities for rest, but over the course of every day we will take a number of walks. To enjoy this experience, you should be able to walk as much as 5 miles, including up and down hills.

Is it safe to travel to Israel?
Richard+ says, “No place, including Israel, is 100% safe. But on the whole, Israel is safer than American roads. I never had a moment’s fear in Israel, or anywhere else in the Middle East, except in traffic — the same as here.”
Click on the following links and read their comments: Jerusalem Insider; Frommers; TripAdvisor

Why make a pilgrimage to Israel?
Richard+ says,“Pilgrimage is considered an important spiritual practice in all major religions. Spiritual pilgrimages to Biblical and post-Biblical historical sites in the Middle East, Egypt, and Europe have profoundly affected my thinking, understanding, and spirituality. I cannot recommend it highly enough for every Christian — and consider it an essential requirement for Christian leaders.”

It isn’t easy; it isn’t cheap. But as the commercial says, you’re worth it!

O Transforming and Healing Lord,
who walks with us through the valley of the shadow of death, may you surround the suffering and terrorized with the visceral presence of your Holy Spirit. May the dead be received into your enfolding arms, and may the wounded and grieving find healing. May the violence be ended. May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. May your kingdom come.

We pray in the name of Jesus, the crucified and risen one, the one who walked the Via Dolorosa (the Way of Suffering).

Amen

We need your smiling faces!
Trinity has the opportunity this spring to update its current photo directory to include everyone who regularly attends Trinity. We are aiming for 100 percent participation in this project. Photographers will be at Trinity on four different days. There will be no charge to have your picture taken, and you will have the opportunity to choose your photo for the directory at the time of your sitting. As a thank-you for having your picture taken, you will receive a free 8- by 10-inch print and a free directory. You may purchase additional photos if you choose, but we have been assured that there will be no sales pressure to that end from the photography staff.
Trinity’s photo dates are 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 17; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 18; 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, and Wednesday, June 5, and 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 6, in the Parish Hall.
You may schedule your appointment online at <a href="https://www.securedata-trans14.com/ap/trinityepiscopalchurch1/index.php?page=10"
LifeTouch’s portrait session registry page, which is secure and very user friendly, or, if you prefer, you may choose your appointment at church on Sundays, April 21 and 28 and May 5. Volunteers will be available in the narthex before and after each service and at the coffee hour following the late service to help.
And it will be helpful to the process if you schedule soon. This will allow us to determine if we need to open up additional photography days and will also prevent you from receiving a reminder phone call from one of the ECW ladies!
Please contact Daphne Sterling, 646-2186, or Kathy Paddock, 686-5976, with any questions about the photo directory project.
